If you are looking for a great family adventure for the 4 th of July holidays, Harrison Arkansas is the place to be. Not only does Harrison have one of the best fireworks displays around, there are many other fun activities taking place. From baseball tournaments to street dances, there is sure to be something to please everyone.
July 1 st through the 3 rd , the Millbrook Sports Complex will be hosting the District Babe Ruth Tournament. There will be approximately four teams from surrounding towns participating in this tournament. Teams from Harrison, Carroll county, Tri-County, and Madison county will be playing some good baseball during this event, so if you are a baseball fan, come check out some of the best players around.
On July 3 rd , KHOZ radio station will be holding their annual street dance. It will begin at 9:30 p.m. and go until midnight. The dance will be taking place downtown on the historic Harrison square. It is estimated that several hundred people attend the street dance, with a wide variety of music being played that includes old time rock and roll, country, and just about anything in between. Also, KHOZ will be giving away numerous prizes for this special event. It's a whole lot of fun for anyone who wants to come join in this celebration.
On the 4 th of July, the fun starts early and lasts all day until it is time for the fireworks. Harrison's Old Fashioned 4 th of July Celebration will start at 9:00 a.m., where kids can join in the fun by being in the bicycle parade. Children who have decorated their bicycles can bring them on down to Lake Harrison and show off their hard work and creativity while riding in the parade. Also scheduled to take place is the turtle race, which has been a regular event for many years. One of the early afternoon activities include a bed race, with uniquely decorated beds racing to the winners circle. Events will continue throughout the day, and then starting around 7:00 p.m., there will be numerous fun and games held for kids and prizes given away.
The Fireworks Extravaganza is scheduled to begin at approximately 9:00 p.m. at Lake Harrison. This is a very large fireworks display, with the levee area around Lake Harrison providing the perfect location to watch the beautiful ground and aerial displays, as it looks like fireworks are spilling off the bridge into the lake like a waterfall. The gorgeous colors explode on both sides of the bridge, with the images reflecting in Lake Harrison.
Come on out and be a part of the festivities and the celebration of our nation's independence. The 4 th of July is one of the most fun holidays for the whole family, so bring the kids, grandma and grandpa, and anyone else that wants to come have a grand time here in Harrison. See ya there!
