Hawksbill Crag (Whitaker Point)

Description:  Great hike for everyone and ends at one of the #1 photographed points and locations in Arkansas!  Hawks Bill Crag is hundreds of feet tall and is amazing to explore and bring a picnic.  The crag has been featured in many promotional publications throughout the state of Arkansas and the United States.  Along the Hawksbill Crag trail you can see beautiful Ozarks scenery and a natural Ozarks forest, Arkansas wildflowers, Umbrella Magnolias and wonderful Arkansas fall colors.

The road is not made for small cars and can be rough in many places.  It is suggested to travel by truck or 4x4 vehicle.  The worst part of the road is the steep beginning but after it tops out on the mountain, it is a beautiful scenic drive to Hawksbill Crag.

Directions:  Head south on Highway 43 from Harrison and then take Highway 21 South through Boxley Valley south of Ponca.  Turn right on County Road 5, Cave Mountain Road and travel approximately 6 miles to the trail head.  When you arrive at the Cave Mountain Church, the trail head is .6 of a mile further.  You will see a sign marker on the left of the dirt road with a big rock.  Parking is on the right side or along the county dirt road.
