Activities In and Around Harrison, Arkansas

With so many things to do while you are here in Harrison, it is always a good idea to plan an extra day!  Visitors from all over the world agree that your time in Harrison, AR is always too short, and you will look forward to your next trip.  Where you stay when you visit  attractions like the new Ozark Medieval Fortress just north of town and the magnificent cave tours at Mystic Caverns just south of town are just a taste of the hot spots visitors cannot get enough of while in town.

In the city limits , The Lake Harrison Marketplace provides plenty of fun family activities, wonderful shopping from unique clothiers, candy stores, furniture, gifts and second hand treasures, a National Register Historic District and walking tour, bike and hiking paths, farmers market and events, festivals as well as lodging, dining and entertainment.

Our outdoor adventurists and enthusiasts typically plan to visit several of the trails along the beautiful Buffalo River, but find themselves short on time as the magnificent views and sights along the first few trails occupy more time than they anticipated.  It might be wise to pack your fishing pole too!  The fantastic small mouth fishing along the banks of Crooked Creek and the Buffalo National River and the large mouth fishing on Bull Shoals Lake have a reputation for being quick limit reaching fishing holes.

Not the adventurous type?   Be sure to visit Boone County's own Heritage Museum.  It will take you on a trip through the past and illustrate just how we became the lovely community we are today as well as share interesting history including the gundown of Henry Starr, the Mountain Meadows Massacre and the Orphan Train.
